For your positive thoughts I give you this vision:
Imagine the day when Moor's Law lets holographic reality augmentation gear reside in the very glass of normal glass frames such that it is not visibly noticeable to others. This will remove the social stigma of such devices. Also imagine the device being affordable to the normal working person's budget. How will society integrate being able to build custom reality augmentation overlay experiences that can be worn all day long with out noticeable weight or impact from the person wearing it.
